The SSSpider™ Search Engine Registry

The SSSpider Search Engine Registry pane is in the left bottom corner of the main application window.

It contains a list of Search Engines which you may include in any of existing or newly created Search Sets to make SSSpider send requests to these engines when processing your queries.

To include engines to a particular Search Set, simply drag, then drop your selection of Search Engines onto a desired set as it is shown in this picture:

SSSpider also offers you the unique possibility to update its Search Engine Registry with virtually any engines you wish including your local ones. To add a new Search Engine to the SSSpider Search Engine Registry pane, click the pane using the right mouse button, then select the pop-up menu item "New ..." as it is shown on this picture:

Once you click the "New ..." pop-up menu item as it is demonstrated on the above picture, the SSSpider Search Engine Wizard dialog will appear:

Follow instructions on the main Wizard window to update the SSSpider Registry with new Search Engines. Once a new engine entry has been created, drag and drop its icon onto a desired Search Engine Set to make SSSpider send requests to this engine. This way you may update SSSpider with the unlimited number of new Search Engines the application will communicate with when processing your queries.

Important information for SSSpider users:

If you have found a search engine which is not yet mentioned on the page http://www.kryltech.com/spdreng.htm, you are invited to send a message to Kryloff Technologies providing the engine URL(s) and search option(s).

Everyone who supplies Kryloff Technologies with at least 6 (six) SSSpider™-compatible search engines plus one more engine which is not fully SSSpider™-compatible, and which domains are not yet mentioned on this page, will be given the possibility to purchase SSSpider™ at the 50% discount (in your message list at least 6 new engine URL's, please)

All those who provide us with at least 12 (twelve) new SSSpider™-compatible search engines plus one more engine, which is not yet fully SSSpider™-compatible, will be granted a Registered version of SSSpider™ 4.0 free fo charge (in your message list at least 12 new engine URL's, please).

Generally, the SSSpider Search Engine Registry is to be used for:

entering new Search Engines;

editing or checking an existing Search Engine;

deleting old Search Engines.

To perform any of the above actions, click the SSSpider Search Engine Registry pane using the right mouse button, after which a corresponding pop-up menu will appear. To obtain more detailed information about each item in the pop-up menu, click the corresponding item in this picture:

New Search Engine
	Calls the SSSpider Search Engine Wizard using which you may update the Search Engine Registry with new engines.
Check Search Engine
	Calls the SSSpider Search Engine Wizard, which allows you to verify that the engine being checked is "alive", and that its reports can be correctly processed by SSSpider.
Rename Search Engine
	Click this item to rename a Search Engine.
Delete Search Engine
	Click this item to delete a selected Search Engine. Upon deletion, the Search Engine will be excluded from all Search Engine Sets as well. After you delete an engine, there is no way to restore it, so SSSpider will be asking you to confirm this action each time you are about to delete an engine.
*The View* menu item**
	This item determines how engines are to be displayed. You may select one of the following options: Large icons - each Search Engine appears as a full-sized icon with a title below it. Small icons - engines appear as small icons with the title to the right. List - each engine appears as a small icon with a title to the right of it. Icons are arranged in columns. Table - each engine appears on its own line with the title and additional information arranged in two columns. The leftmost column contains a small icon and title, and the other column displays the date a particular engine has been checked last time. Both columns have corresponding headers.
Sort Search Engines
	This item lets you sort engines either by their titles or dates each engine has been checked last time. See also: The SSSpider Search Engine Sets.
Find a Search Engine
	Click this item to find a search engine by title.
Refresh the pane "Search Engines"
	Click this item to sort items within this pane according to the currently selected order. See also: Sort Search Engines.
Adjust Font
	Click this item to change font name, pitch or color with which items in this pane are to be displayed.
Properties
	When you click this item, the Properties dialog will appear; this dialog displays additional information about the Search Engine you have selected. By default, this dialog remains on top of the rest of SSSpider windows until you close it. Click the dialog with the right mouse button and uncheck the pop-up menu item "Always stay on top" to change this behavior.
