The SSSpider™ Search Engine RegistryThe SSSpider Search Engine Registry pane is in the left bottom corner of the main application window. It contains a list of Search Engines which you may include in any of existing or newly created Search Sets to make SSSpider send requests to these engines when processing your queries. | ||
To include engines to a particular Search Set, simply drag, then drop your selection of Search Engines onto a desired set as it is shown in this picture: |

SSSpider also offers you the unique possibility to update its Search Engine Registry with virtually any engines you wish including your local ones. To add a new Search Engine to the SSSpider Search Engine Registry pane, click the pane using the right mouse button, then select the pop-up menu item "New ..." as it is shown on this picture: |

Generally, the SSSpider Search Engine Registry is to be used for: To perform any of the above actions, click the SSSpider Search Engine Registry pane using the right mouse button, after which a corresponding pop-up menu will appear. To obtain more detailed information about each item in the pop-up menu, click the corresponding item in this picture: |

| New Search Engine | |

Calls the SSSpider Search Engine Wizard using which you may update the Search Engine Registry with new engines. |
| Check Search Engine | |
|
|
Calls the SSSpider Search Engine Wizard, which allows you to verify that the engine being checked is "alive", and that its reports can be correctly processed by SSSpider. |
| Rename Search Engine | |
|
| Click this item to rename a Search Engine. |
| Delete Search Engine | |
|
|
Click this item to delete a selected Search Engine. Upon deletion, the Search Engine will be excluded from all Search Engine Sets as well. After you delete an engine, there is no way to restore it, so SSSpider will be asking you to confirm this action each time you are about to delete an engine. |

This item determines how engines are to be displayed. You may select one of the following options: |
| Sort Search Engines | |
|
|
This item lets you sort engines either by their titles or dates each engine
has been checked last time. |
| Find a Search Engine | |
|
|
Click this item to find a search engine by title. |
| Refresh the pane "Search Engines" | |
|
|
Click this item to sort items within this pane according to the currently selected
order. |
| Adjust Font | |
|
|
Click this item to change font name, pitch or color with which items in this pane are to be displayed. |
| Properties | |
|
|
When you click this item, the Properties dialog will appear; this dialog displays additional information about the Search Engine you have selected. By default, this dialog remains on top of the rest of SSSpider windows until you close it. Click the dialog with the right mouse button and uncheck the pop-up menu item "Always stay on top" to change this behavior. |
